After a thorough study of the expediter segment of the trucking industry, we believe one of the ways the industry can build long term relationships with their owner operators is for us to provide them with the right vehicle for the application.

This being the case, then a Heavy Duty Class “8” Big Bore Diesel Straight Truck with a gross vehicle weight of 52,000 lbs. is the right vehicle for the job.

Currently, the Medium Duty Class “7” Straight Trucks with a gross vehicle weight of 33,000 lbs. are what the majority of Owner Operators Expediters are running.

The typical Class 7 vehicle is designed to run approximately 250,000 to 450,000 miles before requiring a major overhaul.  Expediters typically run 80,000 to 100,000 miles per year. After 4 years these vehicles have used up there life expectancy and are either ready for an expensive overhaul or ready to be traded in.  While the overhauling of an engine can be expensive, you still have the transmission, rear axle, clutch, (if not an automatic), and suspension repairs to take into consideration.  These repairs will far exceed the value of the vehicle.  So if you decide to trade it in at 400,000 miles without doing any repairs, your trade-in value will be negligible and will probably not be enough to make a down payment on your next vehicle.

Where as the Class 8 Big Bore Diesel is designed to run 1 million miles or more prior to requiring a major engine overhaul. Also, because of the heavier components and overall design of the vehicle, the Class 8 Straight Truck will give you better paying loads, less downtime for maintenance and repairs, better fuel economy and a very comfortable ride!
